New Batman film rises above competition
The people have spoken and The Dark Knight Rises is the movie they can’t miss this summer.
According to an IGN.com poll, an overwhelming amount of movie fans have named The Dark Knight Rises film their must-see movie of the summer with more than 26,500 votes. In second place was The Avengers, which managed to rally 17,000 votes and in third place was The Amazing Spider-Man with only 5,000 votes. But the accolades for The Dark Knight Rises did not stop there. In the new character category, Tom Hardy’s Bane and Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman took the gold and silver-medal spots, leaving behind Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Rhys Ifan’s Lizard. Director Christopher Nolan also received recognition being named ‘Favorite Comic Book movie maker,’ well ahead of the competition. Nolan received 80 per cent of the vote, with The Avengers’ Joss Whedon and The Amazing Spider-Man’s Marc Webb splitting the rest.
Chris Carle, Entertainment Editorial Director of IGN.com, isn’t surprised by the results. “The appetite for Batman and The Dark Knight Rises is enormous, and the level of anticipation for this film could not be higher,” he said. “It’s Nolan’s last in the series and the sequel to one of the highest films of all-time, so the hype isn’t unexpected.” Find out if The Dark Knight Rises lives up to the hype when it hits the big screen on July 20.
