Michelle Pfeiffer passes the Catwoman torch
Catwoman has purred on camera in many forms, but none more iconic than Michelle Pfeiffer’s turn in Tim Burton’s 1992 Batman Returns. When The Dark Knight Rises descends to theaters this July, it will be Anne Hathaway sliding into the famous black ears but that doesn’t mean that the role’s most famous portrayer isn’t supportive of the young star. Although she says she’d have been happy to reprise the flirtatious feline had director, Christopher Nolan asked, Pfeiffer spoke highly of the Oscar-nominated ingénue in an interview with Empire magazine saying, “I think she’s great. I’m actually very much looking forward to seeing her in the role. I’m a big fan of hers and I think she has everything you need for that role. She has the humor, she can go to dark places, she’s obviously very talented.”
