Batman teams up with Pepsi
Batman’s latest mission—saving Pepsi. The caped crusader is teaming up with the soda company for a new promotion that will help advertise The Dark Knight Rises. Starting in June, Mountain Dew will release a new mixed berry soda flavor themed after the masked crimefighter (Mountain Dew Dark Berry) for a limited eight week run. The company will also release exclusive content about the movie through an “interactive experience” before opening day. Mountain Dew’s vice president of marketing Brett O’Brien told Marketwatch he expects the partnership to be very lucrative. “Mountain Dew is all about fueling passion and that is what this partnership is based on. You’d be hard-pressed to find more passionate fans than those of Dew and The Dark Knight franchise. Our goal is to offer those fans unique experiences—from package and product innovation to exclusive content and access that only Dew and Batman together could provide.” 2008’s The Dark Knight broke box office records as one of the most successful movies of all time and Pepsi is hoping that will translate — its stock dipped seven per cent this past February and could use a boost.
