Batman executive producer receives Inkpot Award
Michael Uslan, executive producer and originator of Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy, can now count himself amongst the greats. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Uslan was awarded the convention’s highest honor: the Inkpot Award, which honors lifetime achievement in the comic book and film arts industries. This award places the Dark Knight Rises producer alongside other industry titans who have also received it, such as Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola. “I am beyond thrilled!” says Uslan, who seemed surprised by his win. “I did not know that I was to be awarded with The Inkpot, and to be included with so many of the industry’s heroes is truly humbling. I particularly want to congratulate my fellow 2012 winners!” As a child, Uslan dreamed of sharing his favorite comic book hero with the world – to have them see Batman the way he saw him. He persisted through adulthood, eventually teaching the first accredited college course on the topic of comic book folklore in 1972. He has gone on to spend 36 years in the film and television industry, working on projects like National Treasure, Constantine and, of course, the Batman films. His varied works have earned Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmy awards. His new memoir, The Boy Who Loved Batman, is available now.
