Batman producer Michael Uslan at Comic-Con 2012
Michael Uslan, the originator and Executive Producer of the Batman movie franchise — from Tim Burton’s Batman to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and such animated Batman films as The Dark Knight Returns and Batman Year One — is Comic-Con’s 2012 Guest of Honor. An original fanboy who attended the world’s very first Comic-Con 49 years ago, he went on to write such comic books and graphic novels as Batman: Detective #27, Detective Comics, The Shadow, Archie Gets Married, The Spirit Black & White, and The Question. He won an Emmy Award for bringing Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego to television. His memoir, The Boy Who Loved Batman, tells the story of his life-long quest to bring a dark and serious version of The Dark Knight to the Silver Screen. A Q&A and a book-signing will follow the panel. Comic-Con 2012 runs from July 12 to 15 at the San Diego Convention Center with a preview night on July 11, 2012.
