Highlights from The Dark Knight Rises Canadian premiere
Toronto was in full Bat mode last night for the Canadian premiere of the highly-anticipated conclusion to Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. We caught up with actor Matthew Modine, who plays the deputy comissioner in the film, to find out what it was like working on the franchise for the first time. “Christopher Nolan exceeded my expectations,” said the actor. “He’s a hard-working man who loves making movies and that’s the kind of director that everybody should aspire and hope to have the opportunity to work with.” If teaming up with Nolan wasn’t reward enough, working on this film was even more valuable because like most young boys, Modine was a childhood fan of the Caped Crusader, saying, “When I was 10 years old I had a Batman costume, I was Batman for Halloween. My garage was my cave.” He isn’t the only one. Nestor Carbonell, who played Gotham City’s mayor in both this film and its predecessor The Dark Knight, was also a big fan growing up. So what is it about the hero that makes him so popular over so many years? “I think what’s great about him is, of all the superheroes, he’s really accessible because he doesn’t have any super powers,” explains Carbonell. “So, for any of us who can dream, we don’t have to go that far to achieve that. You just need a billon dollars to be Bruce Wayne.” Check out the gallery below for some of the highlights from last night’s premiere (photos by Devin Garabedian).
