Marion Cotillard denies she’s Talia Al Ghul
Just when you think you know everything there is to know about a movie, a beautiful French Oscar winner goes and turns everything you know on its head. Marion Cotillard is disputing claims that she plays the villainous Talia Al Ghul in the fast-approaching The Dark Knight Rises. While it’s been common knowledge that Cotillard plays Miranda Tate in the upcoming Batman epic, online speculation has run rampant with the assumption her character’s name is simply a ruse or some guise to get close to Bruce Wayne’s brooding superhero. Given Christopher Nolan’s love of secrecy and the casting of Talia’s father, Ra’s Al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson) the rumors seemed to be true, however, Cotillard is now saying that’s not the case. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cotillard says she not only plays a hero, but her role also isn’t very big. “[She] is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She’s a good guy.” The role of Talia Al Ghul is a complicated one having been both a lover and adversary for the caped crusader while her father proved to be quite a formidable opponent. Whether Cotillard is telling the truth or not one thing is certain — it will be interesting finding out July 20 when the movie opens.
