While Christian Bale’s verklempt reaction to footage of the late Heath Ledger may have left the biggest impression on fans at last night’s MTV Movie Awards, those eagerly awaiting the final Batman blockbuster also got an extended sneak preview at the conclusion that revealed some fascinating tidbits about Gotham’s sworn protector. The biggest reveal in the 90 second montage was the nature of his relationship with a certain feline burglar. While his stance on Catwoman has always been rather ambiguous and unpredictable (sometimes lover/sometimes bitter enemy), many assumed Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle would prove to be a playful foil for the caped crusader. However, it appears for at least some time in the movie they strike a partnership, one clip showing the pair going up against an unsuspecting thug as a team. Images of the newly refurbished bat cave (which was destroyed in the Dark Knight) are sure to ignite anticipation while a more ominous clip also shows Bruce Wayne’s main antagonist Bane (Tom Hardy) clutching Batman’s discarded mask. Could this mean the Bat’s days are numbered?
