Warner Brothers might be showing a little more of The Dark Knight Rises by late April. According to indiewire.com, Warner Brothers is one of the six studios that will put on display reels at this year’s newly revamped CinemaCon — the annual convention put on by the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) in Las Vegas which takes place this April 23 to 26. WB President Jeff Robinov introduced the three films that will be featured at the convention, including Tim Burton’s fantasy-comedy Dark Shadows, Adam Shankman’s Rock of Ages and the anticipated summer flick The Dark Knight Rises.

It’s a rare move on behalf of Warner Brothers as the studios often opted to showcase their movies at the convention every other year. With the relationship between the major studios and theater owners being tested by new methods of distribution such as on-demand content across several platforms, the studios and the theater owners are trying to find a way to move forward together. “We’re finding ways to grow the business together and test models in partnership before we roll out radicals things,” said John Fithian, NATO president and CEO, in a conference call last week. “It’s about how to grow the pie together.” Theater owners find themselves greatly rewarded when movies like The Dark Knight Rises exceed the box office expectations. Excellent word-of-mouth that good movies receive after being highlighted in conventions like CinemaCon could push towards better business this summer. The move is a win-win situation.
