Batman vs. Superman budget for Michigan shoot revealed

Zack Snyder’s much-anticipated Batman vs. Superman film is breaking records as it will be the largest production ever to shoot in the state of Michigan. According to the public relations manager for the Michigan Film Office, Michelle Grinnell, the film’s budget for this sole site is $131 million. Grinnell also noted that the film is expected to create 6,000 jobs in the local Detroit economy.

Production in Michigan includes seven soundstages at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac, as well as location shooting in the state.

The whopping Michigan budget doesn’t include the costs for additional location shooting, post-production or even the hefty cost of building Superman’s home, the infamous “Kent Farm,” which began construction in November in Yorkville, Illinois.

The big-budget film features Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman, as he faces off against Ben Affleck as the new Batman/Bruce Wayne. Also returning are Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Superman’s mother. Newcomer to the DC world, Fast & Furious 6’s Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, to be released July 17, 2015.
