Christopher Judge, best known for his roles in the Stargate universe, is about to crossover to the world of comic book movies this summer with a role in The Dark Knight Rises. One of the things he found most surprising was how under wraps everything was kept. “I can talk more about the experience than the role. Everything about it is secret. It was one of the more bizarre experiences. And not the being on set, but the secrecy surrounding it. I’ve never really dealt with a project of that scale,” Judge said. “Generally you get a script, you know what you’re shooting the next day. You have time to prepare. What [would happen] when you got a call time, the AD would read you your lines for the next day because no one got scripts so you could have in your mind roughly what you’re going be doing the next day. Then you’d get to set and it would all change. It was like that constantly.”

But Judge found it liberating not being held back by memorization of cues and lines.“It’s incredibly freeing as an actor but incredibly scary because you’re used to being micromanaged because you can’t have all this freedom because they don’t have time for you to be spontaneous,” he said. “In this movie, Chris would give a very rough framework of where he wanted you to say lines. It was about where you started and where you ended up.” Judge appreciates the confidence Nolan has in the actors. “It was a new experience for me. He hires the people that think they are great actors and gives them a tremendous amount of freedom. It was a tremendous but daunting experience.”
