Ever since Christopher Nolan became involved with the Batman saga, people have been expecting to see him reunite with actor Guy Pearce.

Pearce, the lead actor in one of Nolan’s earliest successful films Memento, was rumored to be attached to all of Nolan’s Batman movies. But was there any truth to it or was it just gossip on the Internet? In an interview with ComicBookMovie.com Pearce admitted he did have a conversation with Nolan to join the cast of Batman Begins, but that nothing came of it. “It was pretty much a rumor. I did talk to him about one of the characters but only vaguely. I think the rumors had started before that anyway. As soon as they knew he was doing Batman, I think they linked him to me anyway,” Pearce said.

So who would he have played? “It was the Liam Neeson character [Ra’s Al Ghul]. But obviously I’m too young,” he jokes. “Too handsome, too young, too talented. They needed a schlobby kind of every-man.” Liam Neeson will be reprising his role in the third movie The Dark Knight Rises — but don’t blink because you might miss him. “I have no idea what the story is about. Nothing. Nothing. Seriously, I’m not sure if I’m still in it. It’s a cameo — let’s put it that way — if it still survives,” Neeson told CNN.
